This week I present to you the first three issues of ‘Systematic’, a podcast series I’ve set up from the previous concepts I originally had. I’ll be releasing all the original issues in the coming weeks, before I kick off with some brand new and lengthier mixes.

The first issue is a recording from my first guest mix on KissFM’s ‘The Walk of Shame’, aired back in 2007. The show is still running on Sunday mornings, 9am – 11am in Melbourne, and you can hear the show on 87.6 / 87.8 / 87.9 / 88.0 or online at their website!

The second issue is a few of my charted tracks at the time, which tuned out to be a great little mix in the end.

Finally, the third mix was a test and review of the Behringer BCD2000 digital mixer. You can check out my review just under the 003 tracklisting.

I hope you enjoy the issues! Stay tuned for more issues of ‘SYSTEMATIC’!

BCD2000 REVIEW

The Behringer BCD2000 is a nice little budget mixer for those who just want to have fun with it (it has definately saved me loads of blank cds when i want to have a casual mix at home), and for the more professional use, there are a lot of kinks to work out, including sensitivity with the controls, however as some have pointed out, it can be done.

Just starting out with it, I found it slightly annoying at first with the sensitivity issues (You’ll hear the last mix I do cuts in on the bass quite quickly although the knob was only shifted slightly), but I’ve heard that they can be mapped accordingly which is nice.

I hope there is an adjustment to handle the pitch slides, as the bpm would change anywhere from .1 to .3 on each click. This tiny problem can be a hassle when you’re mixing as the tracks can easily come out of time, but with a pitch bend included on the mixer along with the jogwheels, this can be easily tackled.

The inclusion of additional knobs and buttons for effects is an absolute bonus. You can download plugins from the net and have an absolute blast with it.

You also have a range of options of software, which will cost extra to purchase, but you also get some software bundled with the mixer to play with.

All in all, a great purchase for those starting out!
